Hollywood
During the 1990s after years of steady decline in Hollywood, the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency invested in improvements to public transportation and property owners formed a Business Improvement District (BID). CIM began its more than 14 years of investing in the Hollywood community, and utilized the 1999 adaptive reuse ordinance that incentivized revitalization efforts and encouraged the redevelopment of existing buildings in the area.

Downtown Oakland
Oakland was facing some major economic challenges during the 1980s and 1990s when a number of companies relocated out of the downtown area and several major plants closed. In response, the city launched a large-scale initiative to increase downtown residential options, and in 2006, the City invested $54.2 million in new projects, which served as a catalyst for redevelopment. Shortly after, CIM began its involvement in the community.

NoMA
Following the opening of The MCI Center (now Verizon Center), Gallery Place, and D.C. Convention Center which sparked the beginning of a major renaissance in Washington D.C.’s downtown central business district in the 1990s, CIM identified NoMa (North of Massachusetts Avenue) as a prime location for investment. CIM began its involvement in the area when the District’s Redevelopment Land Agency selected CIM to develop CityVista, a prominent mixed-use project.
