The “VP, Financial Reporting” is responsible for the overall quality of the financial and investor reporting required for CIM Group. The “VP, Financial Reporting” will oversee responsibility that impact financial and investor reporting including corporate accounting functions such as ledger accounts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Prepare and/or review corporate financial statements and footnotes, including analysis of complex ownership structures related to CIM’s investment advisoractivities.Responsible for technical accounting compliance, including consultation with external auditors and tax advisors on complex accounting and tax issues asnecessary.Prepare and/or review and implement accounting policies and procedures related to the corporate operations and CIM’s investment advisor activities,including:o Regulatory compliance on financial reporting efforts as a fiduciary to advisory clients.o Revenue recognition related to property management, construction management, advisory services, and gains and losses from investments in investmentfunds,o Expense recognition related to employee compensation and complex inter-companyagreements.Analyze advisor, fund and investment operations by applying knowledge of legal agreements and structure, including complex co-invest and joint venture structures, and fund and property level debtagreements.Assist CIM’s Expense Allocation Policy according to established guidelines.Work with the Director of Accounting and Fund Accounting groups to account for equity and incentive fee interests in investment funds managed or co-managed by theAdvisor.Work with the Property Accounting, Property Management, Development, Condo Sales and Leasing teams to ensure proper consolidated fee tracking at the corporate level.Work with Chief Compliance Officer on process improvements to enhance financial reporting efforts and overall regulatory compliance.Oversight of internal controls across all cross-functional corporate teams (accounts payable, financial reporting, operational and regulatory reporting and treasury).Lead centralization efforts across all cross-functional corporate teams to enhance services provided to all key stakeholders, whether internal or external to the organization.Review and revise documentation, processes and procedures as needed to improve accuracy, increase transparency, and improve control activities to ensure timeliness and overall reliability of corporate operational and financialinformation.Develop and prepare internal “MD&A”, other supplemental reporting, and analytical/ratio analysis for the Advisor, with appropriate supporting schedules, on an on-going basis.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or RelatedField.15+ years previous accountingexperience. Real estate/private equityexperience.Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), Broker Dealer or SEC Reporting experience is critical.CPA (stronglypreferred)MBA, CFA or additional designation aplus.Deep understanding of advisor, fund and investment financial statements, general ledgers, subsidiary ledgers, budgets, cash flow projections, cash management systems and job cost report reviews.Deep understanding of business process improvements and execution.
