The position will report to the General Counsel, Real Estate of CIM Group, LLC in Phoenix, Arizona.  The position will have responsibility for a variety of real estate-related matters, with a focus on supporting the real estate legal requirements of the Cole Net Lease REIT portfolios managed by the Company, consisting of over 1200 individual properties.
  • Structuring, drafting, negotiating and counseling on a broad range of real estate transactions, with a focus on property management and operational matters, as well as commercial leasing.
  • Interfacing with property management, asset management, and leasing staff.
  • Managing and resolving a high volume of property-level legal issues, including easements, REAs, contracts, claims, bankruptcies, landlord/tenant disputes, and third-party litigation.
  • Handling and managing legal aspects of real estate purchase, sale, and financing transactions.
  • Legal support for a variety of business initiatives of the Company and the REITs.
  • Actively managing internal legal resources and outside counsel relationships.
  • Candidate Profile:
  • JD from an accredited law school, member in good standing of at least one state bar (preference is for Arizona State Bar membership, but not required).
  • 10+ years’ experience performing a sophisticated real estate legal practice.
  • Demonstrated experience with a broad range of real estate-related legal matters.
  • Ability to provide general and specific legal analysis and advice with a practical, results-oriented business mindset.
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment.
