ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Facilitate the monthly accounting close for the consolidated corporate entities by preparing and reviewing journal entries and related support.Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures and resolve related accounting issues.Analyze and research information as needed to answer accounting and financial questions by verifying information and interpreting data.Implement new accounting pronouncements, as necessary.Research accounting pronouncements and draft accounting position memos.Maintain and create financial schedules, as necessary.Assist with financial statement audits including preparation of supporting documentation. Provide support to other departments within the Company related to various accounting and financial projects.Train and support accounting staff.Collaborate with department leaders and other team members to ensure deadlines are met.Prepare and review intercompany reconciliations and settlements.Prepare and review account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts with adequate support.Perform analysis of monthly and quarterly income statement trends.Prepare ad-hoc requests and analysis as needed.Responsible to work autonomously towards deadlines and goals.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Position may require after-hours commitment as need arises for time-sensitive requests and to meet deadlinesSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Review work performed by accountants and senior associatesOversight of third-party service providersEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related fieldCPA or CPA candidate preferred6+ years overall experience; experience in private equity/real estate industry or public accounting preferredStrong understanding of US GAAPExperience with subsidiary companies and consolidation accounting a plusKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office – intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS ExcelExperience in Yardi, MRI, J. D. Edwards or comparable softwareFamiliarity with Nexus Payables or comparable software preferredAbility to organize, perform and prioritize various functions to meet deadlines with minimal supervisionEffective communication skills, both written and oral, and strong attention to detailAbility to read, analyze and interpret complex agreementsHighly analytical and detail orientedPERFORMANCE METRICS:
